Baby #2 - Week 9
How big is baby? – 0.9 inches, 0.07 ounces
What food does baby resemble in size? – Olive
What is going on in there? – Your little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like...well...a baby! Cartilage and bones begin to form. The basic structure of the eye is well underway and the tongue begins to develop. The intestines start to move out of the umbilical cord and into the abdomen as the body grows and makes room. The fingers and thumb have appeared but are short and webbed.
How’s mom feeling? – Pretty good, but extremely tired.
Cravings – Culver's usually sounds good.
Food Aversions - Pretty much everything.
Appointment updates - None recently.
Next Appointment - February 24th - check progesterone, March 2nd - Dr. Keefe, March 12th - Midwife

Baby #2's First Pictures
I was so excited to get to see our little baby this afternoon. It was amazing to be able to see such a little baby moving so much. When I had my first ultrasound with Evie she just looked like a little black spot. Grandma got to come along to see the new baby while Evie stayed at Grandma & Papa's with Uncle Matthew and Ella. Daddy had to work and wasn't able to be there. Baby's heart rate was 177bpm.
Baby #2 - Week 8
How big is baby? – 0.63 inches, 0.04 ounces
What food does baby resemble in size? – Raseberry
What is going on in there? – Baby is growing like mad, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though you can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs, and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy. Elbows begin to form in the arms and fingers start to develop. The leg buds begin to show feet with tiny notches for the toes. The face continues to change as the ears, eyes and the tip of the nose appear. The intestines start to form in the umbilical cord. Teeth develop under the gums.
How’s mom feeling? – I've been feeling nauseous for most of the day lately.
Cravings – Anything that doesn't make me want to throw up.
Food Aversions - Not much sounds good, but nothing particular
Appointment updates - None recently.
Next Appointment - Progesterone draw a week from Friday. I still need to decide on a OB/Midwife and schedule my first appointment.
